Example 1.
The tooth shown on the right is the left upper second premolar tooth. The fracture happened a long time ago and was found during a routine physical exam. The patient was a rescued dog.
The tooth was beyond all hope and was extracted. After X-rays to make sure all root remnants have been removed, and after the socket is cleaned of all debris and flushed, the site was sutured over the empty socket for comfort of the patient as unlike in humans an open socket cannot be well cared for in pets and is uncomfortable.
